Kathryn Christmas Named Director of Special Education

The Tustin Unified School District is thrilled to announce Kathryn Christmas as Director of Special Education, pending Board approval on June 27, 2022.  

Christmas has served in public education for more than 22 years and is currently the Director of Support Services Special Education in the Fountain Valley School District (FVSD), a role she has served in since 2018. 

“It’s an honor and privilege for me to have the opportunity to join TUSD,” said Kathryn Christmas. “I’m thrilled to join such an amazing team of educators, and look forward to working alongside you to support teaching and learning for all students!”

Christmas began her career in the Norwalk-La Mirada Unified School District (NLMUSD), and taught various grades at the elementary level.   In 2010, she became a Special Education Instructional Coach in the same district. Christmas went on to serve as a Special Education Administrative TOSA, a Secondary Educational Support Services Intervention TOSA, a Special Education Administrator Program Specialist, and as Director of Student Services prior to her current position as Director, Support Services Special Education.

“I am very excited to have Kate Christmas join our team”, said Assistant Superintendent of Special Education Amy Lambert. “She brings a wealth of experience in general education and special education, and she is a warm and caring educator who shares our passion for supporting our most vulnerable students. She will be a great asset for the TUSD community.”

Kathryn Christmas has a bachelor's in Communication from Lewis & Clark College, a Master’s in Education from Claremont Graduate University, and from Azusa Pacific University a Special Education Credential Level 1 & 2 and a Master’s in Educational Leadership. She is currently working on her doctorate in Educational Leadership from Cal State University Fullerton.
