Elementary Schools Conduct Fall Enrollment for New Students

Tustin Unified School District’s elementary schools are conducting 2019-20 school year enrollment for Transitional Kindergarten (TK), kindergarten and new students.  School offices are open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.  The first day of school is Tuesday, Aug. 13.

Elementary schools are kindergarten through fifth grade.  Orchard Hills School serves students in grades K-8.  Tustin Connect K-8 online school is located on the Helen Estock Elementary School campus.

Additionally, the District’s Spanish Dual Language Immersion Program for students in grades TK through four has moved from Marjorie Veeh Elementary School to Jeane Thorman Elementary School.

TUSD offers online enrollment for new students through the Aeries Parent Portal located on its Website’s Home Page at  While parents and legal guardians can enroll their children online, they will still need to visit their home school to present supporting documentation.

Schools will ask for proof of residence in which the following must be provided: rental contract, lease agreement, escrow paper, mortgage payment coupon, property tax bill or grant deed; and electric, gas or water bill dated within the last 90 days.  Parent or guardian will also be asked for a current photo ID.

Children who will be five years old on or before Sept. 1 of this year (2019) are eligible to enter kindergarten for the upcoming school year.  Parents enrolling their children need to provide proof of their child’s birthdate and health immunization records.

Transitional Kindergarten (TK) will be offered at eight elementary school sites within TUSD: Benson, Heideman, Heritage, Loma Vista, Myford, Nelson, Thorman and Tustin Ranch.  To be eligible for Transitional Kindergarten (the first year of a two-year kindergarten program), a student must turn five years old between Sept. 2 and Dec. 2 of the 2019-20 school year.  TK students enroll at their home school of attendance.

For students turning three- or four-years old by Sept. 1, TUSD is offering two types of Kindergarten Readiness preschool classes.  State-subsidized preschool classes are offered at Beswick, Estock, Guin Foss, Heideman, Heritage, Nelson, Thorman and Tustin Ranch elementary schools, and are free for families who meet the state’s income qualifications.  Fee-based classes are available half-day at Heritage Elementary School and full-day at Hicks Canyon Elementary School.  To enroll, individuals can pick up an enrollment packet at the TUSD Kindergarten Readiness Office, located at 1151 San Juan St., Tustin.

Parents are asked to call or visit their home school for more information.  Tustin Unified schools of residence can be determined by using the School Locator under the Schools tab on the TUSD Website.
