Welcome to Sycamore Magnet Academy!  My name is Katy Fernandez and I am the school counselor for all students Kindergarten through fifth         grade.  I started my career as a middle school teacher and went on to get my Masters in School Counseling.  I have been a school counselor for the   past five years and I truly love my job.  My focus is on building self-confident, resilient and empathetic students who can solve problems productively   and accomplish their goals.  I have two children going to school in TUSD and I am also a product of this amazing district!

I am here to support all students and families, so please reach out through email at and check out my google site for helpful tips, videos and activities to promote social emotional learning.  Find my site at:

Mrs. Kristi Urfano - Middle School

Hello Sycamore students and families! Welcome to the 2020 - 2021 school year! My name is Kristi Urfano and this is my fifth year at Sycamore Magnet Academy, formally known as Currie Middle School and I support students in 6th - 8th grade. A little about me, I have a Masters in Counseling along with a Pupil & Personnel Services Credential and LPCC licensure from Chapman University, and I earned my Bachelor's degree in Child and Adolescent Development from Cal State Fullerton. Aside from being a counselor, I love spending time with my family, catching up with friends, watching basketball, and traveling the world and learning about different cultures. Fun fact: I have been very fortunate enough to travel to 17 different countries! If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at or 714-730-7360 ext. 81022. I look forward to supporting you and your student throughout this year!
