General Dance Rules
All school dances are for Foothill High School students. All Foothill students must comply with the school/district rules as well as the listed additional rules. Any dance guest (non-Foothill student) accompanying a Foothill student must also comply with the following guidelines as well as submit a ‘Guest Permission Slip’. All attendees must present current school identification to be admitted. Prom is a formal dance. Students may not enter the Welcome Back Dance or Winter Dance after 9pm and Homecoming or Prom later than 10pm. All school rules and regulations apply to all in attendance. Students have the option to leave the dance at any time and FHS supervision is not responsible for them after they leave the dance. The following items are not permitted into the dance and will be confiscated: gum, perfume, lotion, mints, food or beverages. The school is not responsible for lost or stolen items. Students who leave the dance for any reason will not be readmitted. NOTE: Students with outstanding detentions to serve must clear their detentions prior to the purchase of the ticket.
Dance Conduct and Behavior
This is a high school dance. All those in attendance must abide by the following guidelines while dancing; No Freaking, No bending over, No riding legs, No inappropriate/sexually suggestive dancing as determined by the FHS Administration. The FHS wristband policy will be in effect. Students receive
one warning for inappropriate dancing; for a second offense they are removed from the dance and a parent is called. Possession and/or use of tobacco, alcohol and controlled substances are prohibited. Any student (or guest) arriving at the event under the influence of (or in possession of) an illegal substance will not be admitted. In addition to alerting local law enforcement, and receiving appropriate school discipline, you will be called to pick up your child from the dance. In the event that you cannot be reached, the incident will be referred to the local police department. FHS reserves the right to conduct a breathalyzer test; the test will be conducted by a school administrator and/or school resource officer.
Dress Code
General Dress Code Information:
Many of our dances are themed and dressing within this theme is encouraged. All school dress policies still apply, however, and will be enforced. Information regarding themes and dress attire suggestions will be advertised weeks prior to any school dance thru campus publicity, social media publicity and on our school website.
Prom is a formal event:
Options for attire include: Dress slacks/pants, Dress Shirt with collar and tie, skirt and blouse, pantsuits, or dresses(mid-thigh to floor length). Coats and dress shoes are highly recommended. Students dressed inappropriately (against school dress code) will not be admitted and will be asked to go home and change. Please check prior to the dance if you have any concerns about appropriate dance attire.
Guest Permission Slip
Guests must be under the age of 21 and at least in ninth grade. In order to purchase a ticket for a non-FHS student, you will need a completed permission slip and a copy of your guest’s ID (for each dance - no yearly permission slips for non-FHS student). Guest passes are available at the student store and only one guest per foothill student will be admitted. If the guest is out of high school, they must come to FHS and meet with an administrator for approval. For more information, please contact a school administrator.
THE “RULES” SECTIONS ABOVE AND THE BELOW SECTIONS MUST BE COMPLETED
As the parent or guardian of the students named below, I have carefully reviewed and discussed the event guidelines with my child, and we agree to abide by all of them. In the event I do not want my child to attend a dance (even after submitting this form, but prior to that designated dance), I will need to contact a school administrator to remove them from the dance list. I also understand there are no refunds for dances after they have occurred.
