Statement of Nondiscrimination
The Tustin Unified School District prohibits discrimination, intimidation, harassment (including sexual harassment) or bullying based on a person’s actual or perceived ancestry, color, disability, gender, gender expression, gender identity, immigration status, national origin, religion, race or ethnicity, sex, sexual orientation, or association with a person or group with one or more of these actual or perceived characteristics. Section 230 of the California Education Code defines discrimination and harassment based on sex as unlawful actions in educational institutions. According to this section:

Discrimination based on sex includes exclusion from participation, denial of benefits, or any other form of discrimination in educational programs or activities that receive state financial assistance.

Harassment based on sex includes unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, and other verbal, visual, or physical conduct of a sexual nature that:
- Affects a student's academic status, progress, or benefits.
- Creates an intimidating, hostile, or offensive educational environment.
- Interferes with a student's ability to participate in school activities.
