BECKMAN HIGH SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS
Tustin Unified School District
Message for Parents and Guardians – September 17, 2020
From Gregory A. Franklin, Ed.D., Superintendent
Hybrid In-Person Instruction Begins Soon
As a reminder to parents, the Tustin Unified School District’s hybrid in-person instruction for students in PreK/TK through 12th grade will begin in the next two weeks. Please see the following schedule:
- Elementary schools (grades PreK/TK through 5) – Thursday, September 24
- Secondary schools (grades 6 through 12) – Tuesday, September 29
This split-start will allow for greater district support as each campus welcomes the return of students.
As a reminder, Friday, October 2, is a regular school day. The TUSD Teacher Professional Development Day originally scheduled on that date was held on September 8.
Each school is communicating to parents about the pick-up and drop-off procedures, bell schedule and safety protocols. Principals are also sending a “welcome back” video to students and parents.
Tustin Unified’s top priority is to balance the education of our students while maintaining the health and safety of students and staff.
For the latest news and updates, as well as the District’s School Opening and Safety Plan, please visit the TUSD website at www.tustin.k12.ca.us.
Important Information About Immunization Requirements – “No shots, No school” Continues
The Tustin Unified School District Health Services Department wishes to remind parents that all students entering the District, advancing to seventh grade or transferring into the school district in any grade must meet ALL immunization requirements in order to attend school, per California State Law, SB 277.
Parents are being notified if their child does not have proof of completed immunizations on file at school. A student will continue on distance learning and will not be able to come onto the campus for classes or activities if proof of completed immunizations is not received by the first day of in-person instruction.
If you have been notified by your school, please send a copy of the most current immunization records immediately to the school health office. If you have any questions, please call the school.
Go to www.ShotsforSchool.org for the most current immunization requirements.
Please note: Pediatrician’s offices are open during the COVID-19 closures. Contact your child’s doctor to get the necessary immunizations.
Deadline for the 2020 U.S. Census is September 30
Reminder – the deadline for the 2020 United States Census is fast approaching! Please respond by Wednesday, September 30, at www.2020census.gov. There are 10 simple questions that take 10 minutes or less. You can also respond via phone at (844) 330-2020 or call and ask for a form to be sent to you via mail. You can also respond to the census in 13 languages, including Spanish, Chinese and Vietnamese.
The census happens only once every 10 years as mandated by the U.S. Constitution. It helps determine congressional representation for our community and guides the spending of $675 billion of government funding. This includes funding for education – TK-12 schools and college, hospitals, community health clinics and government response in emergencies, such as the current COVID-19 pandemic. The information you provide in your census response is confidential and protected by law. It is not shared with anyone including law enforcement, IRS, landlords or city government.
Your participation is greatly appreciated. Thank you!
