Physical Distancing Guidelines
- The population of students has been split into two cohorts to reduce the number of students on campus. The cohorts have been established by ALPHABET. Two cohorts will assist with promoting physical distancing by at least six feet between and among students, staff and visitors while in school buildings or on school grounds.
- For classroom space, consider the following:
- In order to maximize space between student seating and desks. Separation of students may be accomplished by:
- Six feet between desks
- Partitions between desks
- Markings on classroom floors to promote distancing
- Arranging desks in a way that minimizes face-to-face contact
- Teachers desks must be at least 6 feet away from student and other staff members desks.
- The use of clear plastic, study corrals, or other barriers where 6 feet of physical distancing cannot be maintained will be used.
- When possible, the use of non-classroom space for instruction will be utilized.
- In order to maximize space between student seating and desks. Separation of students may be accomplished by:
- In non-classroom spaces, we have established the following:
- Clearly mark areas where students, staff, and visitors must queue to maintain physical distancing, or use alternative entry requirements.
- Directional hallways and passageways for foot traffic, if possible, to reduce instances where individuals pass one another face-to-face
- The map of student flow is on the first map below ("Student Flow Map").
- During school hours, non-essential visitors, volunteers, and activities involving outside groups will be restricted.
- An appointment system will be utilized to stagger public interaction and reduce walk-in visitors/business.
- New students will make appointments to start the enrollment process and obtain devices.
- Lobbies, workstations, and employee breakrooms have been reconfigured to allow for six-feet social distance.
- Limiting communal activities where practicable
- Minimizing congregate movement as much as possible.
- See the 3 maps below ("Student Flow Map", "Student Entry Map", and "Student Break/Brunch Split").
- Serving meals in classrooms or outdoor areas where practicable.
- Insert nutritional services distribution & eating area plans. See the third map below ("Student Break/Brunch Split").
- Adjust staff meetings to ensure physical distancing, and use phone or webinars if possible.
- Designated drop off and pick up locations have been assigned to discourage large gatherings. The following locations are now points of entry and exit on campus:
- See the second map below ("Student Entry Map") for student drop-off locations.
- Designate drop-off and pick-up locations that discourage large gatherings. Consider alternate scheduling.
- Entrances and exits to campus are clearly designated with proper signage.

In addition to the listed custodial cleaning duties, please be advised to add five (5) minutes per classroom/office/restroom for custodian to do spraying and one (1) minute of “dwell time” to disinfect all hard surfaces (i.e. desks, casework, sinks, etc.).
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) defines dwell time as, “the amount of time that a sanitizer or disinfectant must be in contact with the surface, and remain wet, in order to achieve the product’s advertised kill rate.”
In addition to the six (6) minutes allotted for spraying and dwell time there is additional time that will need to be set aside for wiping down all sprayed hard surfaces. Wipe down time estimates will range 5-10 minutes depending on the classroom/office/restroom.
The total estimated time to spray, allow for dwell time and wipe down is 15-20 minutes.
The additional time needed to disinfect and wipe down will result in certain listed custodial duties not being done as frequently as they are done presently (e.g. vacuuming, dusting, etc.). Head Custodians/Plant Supervisors are asked to discuss cleaning listed duties with their Principal/Asst. Principal to ensure cleaning priorities are understood and all agree.
