TUSD Board of Education Saves Taxpayers Through Prudent Action

TUSD Board of Education Saves Taxpayers Through Prudent Action

At their meeting on Monday, July 22, 2024, the Board of Education took action to save taxpayers more than $41 million by refinancing the special taxes levied on Community Facilities Districts (CFD) 14-1 and 07-1. The Board of Education acted prudently on behalf of the residents in Orchard Hills to take advantage of the current interest rate environment and secure significant savings for local taxpayers while shaving six years off the terms of the debt.

In addition, residents in Tustin Ranch, including the Ladera, Peters Canyon and Pioneer communities will notice a reduced amount on their property tax bills, reflecting the early payoff by the District of the CFD 88-1 previously levied.

These actions further demonstrate the District’s commitment to fiscal responsibility and efficient management of public resources. Through funds from these CFDs, community members have provided high-quality and secure schools in the area. Community support has led to improved learning environments and opportunities for students, and we cannot thank our community enough for their significant commitment to supporting our schools.
