Robotics Extravaganza Showcases Student Skills Across TUSD
Our Annual Robotics Extravaganza showcased 80 TUSD teams including 450 students and 27 coaches competing in VEX Robotics. Elementary students highlighted their skills in the Rapid Relay, while middle and high school students competed in the high-stakes tournament. In addition to several teams joining those qualifying to compete at the California State Championships, volunteer and Heideman alum Chris Rodas was celebrated as Volunteer of the Year. Moreover, retiring TPSF Executive Director Carol Burby Garrett was honored for her lasting impact on TUSD Robotics, our students and coaches. Lastly, more than 25 graduating seniors were recognized at the event, sharing their favorite memories from years of participation.
Congratulations to Tournament Champions Pioneer Middle School and Legacy Magnet Academy. Thank you to the Tustin Public Schools Foundation for their ongoing support of our robotics program, in addition to guest judges from Fluor Engineering and Virgin Galactic. And a huge shout out to Teacher on Special Assignment Megan Lund, without whose leadership this event would not be possible.
