Rina Lucchese Appointed as New Director of Communication and Community Engagement

The Tustin Unified School District is thrilled to announce Rina Lucchese as the new Director of Communications and Community Engagement.

Mrs. Lucchese has served in public education for more than 13 years and is currently the Executive Assistant to the Superintendent and Public Information Officer for Fountain Valley School District, a position she has held since 2009.

“I am honored to join the Tustin Unified School District, a district with a long history of academic achievement and community engagement,” shared Mrs. Lucchese.  “I look forward to the opportunity to connect with our students, staff, families and the community in continuing TUSD's tradition of excellence.”

Mrs. Lucchese began her career in the private sector, working in advertising and marketing for a Fortune 500 company.  During her time in the private sector, she worked in strategic marketing and branding, supported mass communications, event planning and customer service. 

“We are extremely excited to have Mrs. Lucchese join the TUSD Family,” said Superintendent Dr. Mark Johnson. “She has a proven track record in community engagement, storytelling, social media, advertising and marketing, while also understanding the importance of working closely with the Superintendent’s Office, Cabinet, school sites, families and service organizations.”

Mrs. Lucchese has a bachelor's in English from the University of California Los Angeles, and a second bachelor’s in Advertising from the Art Institute.  She resides in Orange County with her husband and two young daughters.  Mrs. Lucchese enjoys reading, traveling, antiquing and spending time with family and loved ones.

Anthony Martinez Appointed as New Assistant Principal at Sycamore Magnet Academy

The Tustin Unified School District is thrilled to announce Mr. Anthony Martinez as the new Assistant Principal at Sycamore Magnet Academy.

Mr. Martinez has served in public education for more than 17 years and is currently the Coordinator of Child Welfare and Attendance with El Monte Union High School District, a position he has held since 2015.

“I am excited to join the Sycamore Magnet Academy family, and look forward to building relationships with the staff, students and parents,” shared Mr. Martinez.

Mr. Martinez began his career in education in 2005, serving in various roles and capacities such as a teacher, high school athletic coach, student guidance, and ROP counseling.  He is currently working closely with students and families to support their academic, social and emotional needs.

“We are delighted to have Mr. Martinez join the TUSD Family,” said Superintendent Dr. Mark Johnson. “His commitment to serving students at the highest level is both inspiring and heartwarming, and his core values are closely aligned with those of our school district.”

Mr. Martinez has a bachelor’s in Human Development and Sociology from the California State University at Long Beach, and a master’s in School Counseling from California State University at Los Angeles.  He resides in Los Angeles County and enjoys watching professional sports, especially the Dodgers, attending live events, and walking his dog.
