Highlights from the October 13 Regular Board Meeting

At their regular meeting on October 13, the Board of Education celebrated students named Carnegie Young Leaders for Civic Preparedness. Beckman students Emily Hsia, Nimeesha Komatireddy, Serena Chan, Sarah Chan, Angeline Doan and Kirana Lai were part of the inaugural fellowship of students from 27 states across the nation honored as change makers, tackling real world challenges in our community.

Following this, the Board heard from our student board members as they shared highlights from their campuses. Presenting students included Safiya Nawaz (BHS), Connor Waibel (FHS), Anthony Ruiz (Hillview), Carson Carter (LMA), and Sienna Prieto Harvey (THS). Tustin High School's Indaiah Lowe shared updates from our elementary and middle schools from the dais.

The Board also received an update from Student Services Director Dr. Laura Rubio. Dr. Rubio highlighted the many services offered by Student Services in support of the whole child, from mental health, health services, social work and community schools, in this month's Bright Spot.
