Highlights from the March 10 Board of Education Meeting

At their regular meeting on March 10, the Board of Education honored Beckman Varsity Cheer, Director Jason Vaca and Assistant Coach Alexandra Reynolds in celebration of their CIF State Championship and Universal Cheerleaders Association National Championship titles. The team excelled this season in the large non-tumbling division.

Following this, the Board of Education honored our District Teachers of the Year, celebrating Elementary Teacher of the Year Tracy Havens(Hicks Canyon), Middle School Teacher of the Year Kory Rascher (Hewes) and High School Teacher of the Year Stephanie Smith (Tustin Connect). 

In addition, the Board of Education heard reports from our student board members as they shared highlights from their campus. Presenting student board members included Sahana Shurpalekar(BHS), Elle Doughty (FHS), Mia Ayala (Hillview), Melanie Villalobos (LMA) and Harshini Mahesh(THS). Morgan Park (FHS) also shared an update from our elementary and middle schools from the dias.

Lastly, the Board heard several reports including a highlight of our Vision Impairment and Orientation and Mobility Team through this month's Bright Spot, a presentation of the 2024-25 Secord Interim Report, and an overview of ELA/ELD instructional materials and 30-day review.
