Heideman Heads to Harvard

Over the summer, Heideman Principal Deanna Parks, Community Specialist Gia Meade and Community Liaison Patricia Sanchez were invited to present at the National Community Schools and Family Engagement Conference. Hosted by the Institute for Educational Leadership in Atlanta, Georgia, the conference was designed to catalyze collaboration, action, and a renewed commitment to transforming practices, partnerships, and systems for community schools and family engagement. Our Heideman team highlighted the success of their strategies to a standing-room-only crowd, sharing their journey from family involvement to engagement. In addition to the work of Mrs. Parks, Mrs. Meade and Mrs. Sanchez, Cotsen has greatly supported the efforts on campus.

Following this, Heideman headed to Harvard, spending a week at the Institute on Family Engagement. Led by Karen Mapp, the institute convenes educators and leaders across the world to design family engagement practices directly connected to student learning.

We are excited to see the continued success of the family engagement practices at Heideman Elementary and their positive impact on all of our Roadrunners.
