Bhavini Bhakta joins Benson Elementary as Principal

Tustin Unified School District is pleased to announce the following administrative appointment for the 2026-27 school year.
Bhavini Bhakta, Ed.D. has been named principal at Benson Elementary School. Dr. Bhakta has dedicated more than 22 years to public education, including serving as a principal in the West Covina Unified School District and as an assistant principal in the Arcadia Unified School District where she was also an activities director, instructional coach, and elementary teacher.
Throughout her career, Dr. Bhakta has prioritized building strong school cultures where partnerships with staff, families, and the community form the foundation for student success. She is committed to ensuring every student is empowered to reach their full potential.
“Our brilliant students, our dedicated staff and our supportive families are the heart of Benson Elementary,” shared Dr. Bhakta. “I am incredibly honored to serve them as principal. Returning to my elementary roots where my 22-year career began is a true homecoming, and my absolute priority is to ensure our students, staff and families feel supported, valued, and inspired every day.”

Dr. Bhakta earned her doctorate in urban education leadership from the University of Southern California, her master’s degree in elementary education from Pepperdine University and her bachelor’s degree in psychology and social behavior from the University of California, Irvine.
