Maurita De La Torre Named Director of Personnel Services for TUSD
Dr. Maurita De La Torre has been named Director of Personnel Services for the Tustin Unified School District. She replaces Frank Mackay, who has retired, and will begin in her new position on Dec. 4.
"Maurita is a dedicated educator who brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the table and will be a welcome addition to the TUSD leadership team," Superintendent Dr. Gregory Franklin said.
De La Torre has 22 years of experience in public education, including 15 years as a school administrator. She began her career as an elementary teacher and taught in the Inglewood and Lennox school districts. She also served as a school counselor for students in kindergarten through fifth grades.
Prior to joining TUSD, De La Torre served as an elementary and middle school principal in the Lawndale Elementary School District. She also was an elementary and middle school principal in the Garden Grove Unified School District and an assistant principal in the Paramount Unified School District.
De La Torre has a bachelor's degree in education, master's degree in curriculum and instruction, and a doctorate in educational leadership – all from the University of Southern California.
"Tustin Unified has an excellent reputation, and I'm excited to be a part of a school district where students' academic success is a top priority," De La Torre said. "I look forward to meeting the teachers, administrators and staff, and serving our students and families."
