2016 California Gold Ribbon School

The Gold Ribbon Awards recognize California schools that have made gains in implementing the academic content and performance standards adopted by the State Board of Education. These include the California Standards for English Language Arts and Mathematics, California English Language Development Standards, and Next Generation Science Standards. 
2014 California Distinguished School
The California Distinguished Schools Program honors California's most exemplary and inspiring public schools. Schools selected for the Distinguished School Award demonstrate significant gains in narrowing the achievement gap. Approximately five percent of California schools are awarded this honor each year following a rigorous selection process.  
2013 Honor Roll School
Ladera Elementary has been selected as a 2013 Honor Roll school by the California Business for Education Excellence (CBEE) Foundation. Ladera has been recognized for demonstrating consistent high student academic achievement. The Honor Roll schools are consistently raising student achievement and have made significant progress toward closing the achievement gap among all students. They are recognized not only for their accomplishments, but so that other schools can learn and replicate the best practices of Honor Roll schools.

Ladera Elementary School News

5th Grade CT Magnet Information Night
5th grade parents, you are invited to attend an informational parent night to learn more about the Columbus Tustin Applied Math, Science and Technology magnet program and how to apply. The meeting will be held in the CTMS MPR from 6:00-7:00pm on Wednesday, January 25th.  Teachers from CTMS will be visiting elementary schools to discuss the program with your children the weeks of January 9th-13th.  Students will receive an informational brochure and you can also find more information about the Magnet program at www.tustin.k12.ca.us/Page/61 under "Programs." 
After School Enrichment Programs
Art Palette
The winter session of after school enrichment classes will begin the week of February 6th. Enrollment forms will go home next week, and online enrollment is open until Wednesday, February 1st. Donations Needed for Family Nights
The next Family Night will be on February 24th and will feature BINGO! Please look for more details in your child's Friday folder in the coming weeks. To make this a successful event, we are in need of prizes to award our bingo winners. If you received any gifts over the holidays that are not being used and cannot be returned, we would very much appreciate them! Donations must be unused new items. Gifts for all ages are needed and greatly appreciated! Please leave your donations in the drop box in the school office by Friday, February 10th. Thank you and we look forward to another fun night with the Ladera families!  
Vision & Hearing Screenings
The Health Office vision & hearing screenings will take place on Thursday, February 16th. VOLUNTEERS are needed throughout the day to help organize the students. If you are available to work either the first morning shift (8:30am-10:30am) or the second morning shift (10:30am-12:30pm), please sign up HERE. Your help is greatly appreciated!

Tustin Schools Open a Week Earlier Next Yr.
calendarSchool will begin earlier next year for all TK-12 Tustin Unified students. The first day of school next fall will be Tuesday, August 22, 2017, and the last day of instruction will be June 7, 2018. Parents will need to adjust vacation times and plan calendars to ensure students are ready for school mid-August. Click HERE to read the full news article.
