2016 California Gold Ribbon School

The Gold Ribbon Awards recognize California schools that have made gains in implementing the academic content and performance standards adopted by the State Board of Education. These include the California Standards for English Language Arts and Mathematics, California English Language Development Standards, and Next Generation Science Standards. 
2014 California Distinguished School
The California Distinguished Schools Program honors California's most exemplary and inspiring public schools. Schools selected for the Distinguished School Award demonstrate significant gains in narrowing the achievement gap. Approximately five percent of California schools are awarded this honor each year following a rigorous selection process.  
2013 Honor Roll School
Ladera Elementary has been selected as a 2013 Honor Roll school by the California Business for Education Excellence (CBEE) Foundation. Ladera has been recognized for demonstrating consistent high student academic achievement. The Honor Roll schools are consistently raising student achievement and have made significant progress toward closing the achievement gap among all students. They are recognized not only for their accomplishments, but so that other schools can learn and replicate the best practices of Honor Roll schools.  Click HERE for more information.

Ladera Elementary School News

Welcome new families and returning families to Ladera Elementary School!
Listed below are a few items pertaining to the start of school on August 29th:
  1. Class posting will be available at 4:00pm on Friday, 
    August 26th. The classroom lists will be posted at the front gate of Ladera, no teachers or staff will be present.
  2. First Day of School and Meet & Greet: please join us to meet your teacher on Monday, August 29th. Teachers will have their rooms open, Kindergarten will be from 8:00-8:30am and grades 1 through 5 will be from 8:15-8:45am. This is an opportunity to meet your child's teacher, visit their classroom, and help your child get settled into the new school year. PTO will be serving coffee in the MPR following the Meet and Greet, and we hope that you will join us.
  3. Back to School Night for grades K-5 will be on Wednesday, August 31st. This is an adult event only, no children please.  The evening will begin at 5:00pm in the MPR with classroom visits following from 5:30-6:30pm. Prior to attending Back to School Night, please view our BTSN videos (see below). Please watch both the whole school video as well as the video for your child's grade level. The CDC will be offering childcare and dinner from 4:45-6:45pm. Please contact the CDC office at 714-505-8098 to reserve your spot.  Preschool Back to School Night will be held on Tuesday 9/13, 4:00-5:00pm, beginning in the MPR at 4:00pm, with classroom visits to follow.
  4. Please make sure to re-register your student(s) on-line before the first day of school. All students, grades K-5, are required to re-register.  The link to re-register your student can be found here on our home page, under Quick Links.

Parents of students in grades K-5: Prior to attending our Back to School Night on August 31st, we ask that you please watch the Schoolwide Introductory video as well as the video(s) of the grade level(s) of your student(s). During our Back to School Night event, you will have the opportunity to meet your child's teacher, ask questions about the school year, learn a little more about our schoolwide  and classroom programs, as well as sign up for parent conferences and various volunteer opportunities.  We look forward to seeing you all on August 31st!

Preschool parents, please join us on Tuesday, September 13th from 4:00-5:00pm for our Preschool Back To School Night.  We look forward to seeing you then!
New Ladera Spirit Wear spirit wear
Visit our new Ladera online spirit wear store at www.laderaspiritwear.com, and show your school spirit! It's easy and fun to select your own style and design, or to choose a pre-decorated item. You can order spirit wear all year long, but between Sept. 1st through Sept. 19th, there will be FREE shipping on all orders made online only.  For ordering questions, please email kristinschechter@hotmail.com. Drop Off & Pick Up at Back Gate
No U-turn sign
For those families who drop off and pick up at the back gate, please be aware that it is illegal and unsafe to make a u-turn in this area. Drivers should proceed up Township and make a u-turn at the very top of the street to avoid any danger to pedestrians. Please refer to "Parking Lot/Back Gate Safety" posted on the school website under "Policies and Procedures." Thank you for your adherence to the traffic rules. 
Message From the Health Clerk
Please don't forget to get your physicians to sign new forms for the next school year! The health office will be open on Thursday, August 25th and Friday, August 26th from 8:30-11:30am to accept your medication and physician forms. Please email shilmar@tustin.k12.ca.us with any questions.
