Ladera Elementary School News

Dear Ladera’s Wonderful

Families and Staff,

What a fantastic party you honored me with on my retirement!  I am very grateful for all the beautiful comments, wishes and gifts, and especially

enjoyed visiting with those who were able to come.

Mrs. Elconin

I appreciate the “proverbial retirement watch”—what a cute idea!  We’re enjoying the clock,

and the engraving is very heartwarming.  Your gift of the Pageant of the Masters was perfect; I saw the show a few nights ago and loved it!  It was great to sit so close in the fifth row. This year’s was a bit different with the theme “The Art Detective” and was quite educational in addition to being amazing. And your generosity enabled me to get tickets as well to the musical “Once” in Los Angeles.  So thank you for both performances!

At this point, three weeks into vacation, it feels like any summer vacation.  In spite of the four days it took to move out of my classroom, the fact that I’ve retired and won’t be a classroom teacher any more hasn’t sunk in yet.  It will probably hit me in August when I would normally come in to Ladera to set up for the new school year.  I will miss working here and being with all the students; I just may take Dr. Pinto up on his request that I come back to teach an art masters lesson or two!

My years at Ladera have been very special to me.  I’ve loved getting to know you and working with you and the children.  Teaching here has definitely been a three-way effort/experience and I’ve appreciated all the support and positive interactions.

Thank you again so very, very much for your generosity and thoughtfulness.  Have a wonderful summer.

Much love and gratitude,

Bonnie Elconin

Ladera's Tile Artwork
The family tiles are now mounted on the wall by the lunch tables. They look amazing so make sure you stop by to see them!  Thanks to Mrs. DiLellio's father for installing them once again.
