2016 California Gold Ribbon School

The Gold Ribbon Awards recognize California schools that have made gains in implementing the academic content and performance standards adopted by the State Board of Education. These include the California Standards for English Language Arts and Mathematics, California English Language Development Standards, and Next Generation Science Standards. 
 
 
2014 California Distinguished School
Distinguished
The California Distinguished Schools Program honors California's most exemplary and inspiring public schools. Schools selected for the Distinguished School Award demonstrate significant gains in narrowing the achievement gap. Approximately five percent of California schools are awarded this honor each year following a rigorous selection process.  
 
 
Ladera Named as Honor Roll School
Ladera Elementary has been selected as a 2013 Honor Roll school by the California Business for Education Excellence (CBEE) Foundation. Ladera has been recognized for demonstrating consistent high student academic achievement. The Honor Roll schools are consistently raising student achievement and have made significant progress toward closing the achievement gap among all students. They are recognized not only for theiraccomplishments, but so that other schools can learn and replicate the best practices of Honor Roll schools.  Click HERE for more information.

Ladera Elementary School News

State Testing 
State testing is taking place May 2nd-6th for fourth and fifth graders. Please note that the Ladera campus will be CLOSED in the mornings until 12:30pm on these dates (NO visitors/parent volunteers allowed on campus). We also request that NO DIGITAL DEVICES (iPads, cell phones, iPods, any battery-operated devices, fit-bits, etc.) be brought to school during testing week. Students may bring their own earphones. For questions, please contact the Ladera front office.

Did you know that our library closes for inventory in May? We encourage any students who wish to donate to the Birthday Book Club, to please do so by Monday, May 9th. Plan ahead and become a member today. Hurry, while there's still time! Teacher of the Year Dinner
The Tustin Public Schools Foundation (TPSF) will honor the District's Teachers of the Year and all nominees at its Teachers of the Year Dinner on Friday, May 13th, at the Irvine Marriott Hotel. Congratulations to Ladera 2nd/3rd grade teacher Kathy Okajima, who has been designated as the Teacher of the Year for our school. This summer, the Tustin Public Schools Foundation is offering a fun and enriching summer program for incoming Kindergarteners through 9th grade.  The Summer Academy runs from June 27th - July 21st, Monday-Thursday, 8:30am-12:30pm at Orchard Hills School. Back by popular demand are courses such as STEAM, Fast Forward, Extreme Technology, and Cooking. Many new courses have been added this year, from Crime Solvers and Future Entrepreneurs to Lemonade Stand Economics and Extreme Babysitting.
