Ladera Library Overview

A Message about Ladera's Library...
The collection of books in any library is quite diverse, that is the nature of information and literature… there is something for everyone. At our school, that means there are books for children in preschool through Fifth grade. Providing materials for students of varying ages results in a reality that not every book is appropriate reading for some children or even some families.

Since there are such varying tastes when it comes to books, we do our best to provide diversity without offending our young readers. We recommend that parents monitor the books their students are bringing home to make sure the content is within their personal standards.

A great resource for determining whether a book is right for your child is Common Sense Media (www.commonsensemedia.org). Common Sense Media rates books (as well as movies, television, music and video games) on several factors included within content and message guidelines. The organization provides age-based reviews and even allows parents and children a forum for providing their personal reviews of media.

See you in the Library!

Meet the Librarian

Hello Ladera families,

I’m so happy to be a part of the leopard family! I really enjoy the time I have in the library with the students. It’s so wonderful to see the children get so excited about reading.

My free time is spent with my family and friends. I have an almost 4 year old who keeps me on my toes! I love to craft, go to the beach and go to Disneyland.

I can’t wait for another fantastic year at Ladera!

Birthday Book Club

Looking for a way to celebrate your student’s birthday?

Look no further than your student’s school Library!

The Ladera Elementary Library’s Birthday Book Club is a fun way to commemorate your child’s birthday while helping our library collection grow. Participation in the program involves a $20.00 donation per book (per child).

Sign up now and during the month of your student’s birthday (or half b-day for summer) he/she will get to choose a new book from our selection of new, hardcover books that have already been purchased for this purpose.

Included with your participation:

  • A special book plate placed inside the front cover of the donated book with your child’s name and birthday.
  • A photo will be taken of your child with the book he/she chooses and will be displayed in the library. This photo will be sent home with your child at the end of the year to keep and enjoy.
  • A pencil and eraser presented to your child during his/her birthday/half-birthday month.
  • Your child will be the first to check out the book that he/she donated!

This special donation will be added to Ladera Library's permanent collection and will be enjoyed by many students for years to come.

Click HERE to print and fill out the form. Place the form in an envelope (Attention: Library) and return it to your child’s teacher. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Rigney at crigney@tustin.k12.ca.us

Thank you for your donation to the Ladera Library and your commitment to bringing the most current titles to our students.
