The Tustin Unified School
District Board of Education elected Jonathan Abelove
as its president for 2012. Abelove has served on the
Board for 17 years. As president, he will preside
over meetings and represent the District at special
functions.
“I look forward to continuing
Tustin Unified’s outstanding reputation of academic
excellence, fiscal responsibility, staff development
and successful instructional programs, and also
moving forward on school construction projects
during the year,” Abelove said.
The Board
also elected Tammie Bullard as vice president and
James Laird as clerk. The five-member Board also
includes Lynn Davis and Francine Scinto. Bullard and
Scinto have each served on the Board for 15 years;
Davis for nine years; and Laird for seven years.
Additionally, the Board members were appointed
as representatives/liaisons to various committees in
the District and community. The list can be found on
the TUSD Web site in the Board of Education section.
The appointments were made at the Board’s
organizational meeting in which the group annually
appoints the one-year positions.
