TUSD Holds Dedication Ceremony and Open House
for New Science Center at Tustin High School

The Tustin Unified School District will hold a dedication ceremony for the new state-of-the-art Science Center at Tustin High School at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 2.

Following the ceremony, there will be a community open house from 6 to 7 p.m. at the science center, 1171 El Camino Real. The public is invited to both events.

The two-story facility is approximately 48,000 sq. ft. and houses 15 classrooms. The design features biology, chemistry, and physics labs; earth science and physical science classrooms, as well as restrooms, storage and prep rooms. The project broke ground in April of 2010 and the building opened its doors to students this fall.

“We are very excited to enhance state-of-the-art science education at Tustin High,” Principal Jonathan Blackmore said.

The science center was designed by NTD Architecture and built by Balfour Beatty Construction. It is located toward the northwest corner of the campus adjacent to the tennis courts and Northrup Stadium.

The total cost of the project was approximately $12 million, which was funded through the Measure G campus modernization program. Measure G was passed in 2002 by the voters to repair and renovate the 20 oldest schools in the Tustin school district.
