Tustin Unified Welcomes Students on September 1 Students in the Tustin Unified School District will return to school on Thursday, Sept. 1. Enrollment projections indicate that the District will welcome over 23,000 students – the largest enrollment in TUSD history. “This year we will continue to focus on student achievement, facilities planning, high-quality employees, financial responsibility, parent/community partnerships, and education and information technology,” said Superintendent Dr. Gregory Franklin. Administrative changes for the 2011-12 school year include:
Special dates and holidays during the 2011-12 school year include: Labor Day, Sept. 5; Veterans’ Day, Nov. 11; Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 24; local holiday, Nov. 25; winter recess, Dec. 19 through 30; local holiday, Jan. 2; Martin Luther King Day, Jan. 16; Lincoln Day, Feb. 13; Washington Day, Feb. 20; spring recess, April 2-6; local holiday, April 9; and Memorial Day, May 28. Additionally, there will be seven furlough days (district/schools closed) during the school year: Oct. 31, Nov. 21 through 23; Jan. 27, Feb. 17 and May 25.
