Tustin Unified During the summer, the Tustin Unified
School District’s Maintenance and Operations
Department is practicing its 3 R’s – repairing,
renovating and remodeling.
In addition to
Measures G and L modernization work – new Event
Center at Foothill High School and new Science
Center, new Sports Pavilion and pool renovation at
Tustin High School, the District is working on
several maintenance projects at local schools under
its Deferred Maintenance Program, according to Pete
Burns, Senior Director of Maintenance, Operations
and Facilities.
Among the projects are:

– Replacing the walkways at Barbara Benson
and Loma Vista elementary schools.

Replacing the roofs at Tustin Memorial
Academy and Marjorie Veeh Elementary School.
– Replacing the carpet at Tustin
Ranch Elementary School.
– Removing
and replacing asphalt on the playground at
Benjamin Beswick Elementary School.

Slurry coating (re-sealing asphalt) the
playgrounds and parking lots at Lambert,
Peters Canyon, Tustin Memorial and Tustin
Ranch elementary schools, and Pioneer Middle
School. |
“The District annually assesses the function and
condition of all existing school building components
and proceeds with projects based on typical
component life span and repairs with the greatest
need,” Burns said.
