TUSD Working on Facility Projects during the Summer

Tustin Unified During the summer, the Tustin Unified School District’s Maintenance and Operations Department is practicing its 3 R’s – repairing, renovating and remodeling.

In addition to Measures G and L modernization work – new Event Center at Foothill High School and new Science Center, new Sports Pavilion and pool renovation at Tustin High School, the District is working on several maintenance projects at local schools under its Deferred Maintenance Program, according to Pete Burns, Senior Director of Maintenance, Operations and Facilities.

Among the projects are:

  – Replacing the walkways at Barbara Benson and Loma Vista elementary schools.

– Replacing the roofs at Tustin Memorial Academy and Marjorie Veeh Elementary School.

– Replacing the carpet at Tustin Ranch Elementary School.

– Removing and replacing asphalt on the playground at Benjamin Beswick Elementary School.

– Slurry coating (re-sealing asphalt) the playgrounds and parking lots at Lambert, Peters Canyon, Tustin Memorial and Tustin Ranch elementary schools, and Pioneer Middle School.

“The District annually assesses the function and condition of all existing school building components and proceeds with projects based on typical component life span and repairs with the greatest need,” Burns said.
