Tustin Unified School District
Teacher of the Year Program

Tustin Unified’s annual awards program recognizes outstanding teachers who have displayed extraordinary teaching, creativity and excellence at their school and community.

Winners and all the District’s nominees are honored at the annual Teacher of the Year Dinner in April.  The event is co-sponsored by the Tustin Public Schools Foundation and the Tustin Unified School District.

All three teachers will represent the District in the Orange County Teachers of the Year program.

The Orange County Department of Education will interview selected candidates and announce winners in May. The county finalists will then go on to the California and National Teacher of the Year programs.

The number of teachers chosen to represent TUSD in the Orange County Teacher of the Year program is determined by the total number of teachers in the district.  From 1987 when the program began, until 1989, TUSD was allowed to submit one teacher to represent the district.  From 1999 to 2005, TUSD was allowed to submit two teachers to represent the district. Since 2006, TUSD has qualified to submit three teachers to represent the district.
