TUSD Holds AVID Student Awards Night

The Tustin Unified School District will hold its 14th annual Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) Recognition Celebration at 6:30 p.m. Monday, June 6 at Foothill High School, 19251 Dodge Ave.

Over 400 high school students will receive awards and local scholarships based on their merit, attitude and improvement in the AVID program. AVID teachers and tutors will also be honored.

Additionally, special recognition will be given to the Tustin Public Schools Foundation for its continued support and funding of college tutors in the classrooms.

A slide presentation highlighting student accomplishments during the school year will be shown during the ceremony.

AVID is a program designed to prepare students in the middle who have not previously succeeded in a college preparatory path for admission to four-year universities and colleges. The program is offered at Columbus Tustin, Currie, Hewes, Pioneer and Utt middle schools, and Beckman, Foothill and Tustin high schools.
