TUSD Celebrates California School Nurse Day
The Tustin Unified School
District will celebrate California School Nurse Day on
Wednesday, May 11.
During this week, students and staff will recognize the efforts of school nurses and the importance of school health programs. The event is sponsored by the California School Nurses Organization, which is a 2,000-member organization for registered nurses who practice in the school setting. School health services provided by nurses include health counseling, immunizations, infectious disease control, health screening, health assessments, medical treatments for chronic health problems, emergency care and crisis intervention. School nurses also offer services in special education and teach health education to students, school staff and parents. Tustin Unified’s school nurses (RNs) are Pam Atkins, Marilyn Belanic, Chassy Pham, Lynn Rogers and Cathy White.
