Special Announcement!

TUSD Announces 2011 Teachers of the Year

Tina Kim, second-grade teacher at Lambert Elementary School; Jaclyn Martin, algebra and geometry teacher at Pioneer Middle School; and Monique Dale, social science teacher at Foothill High School, have been selected as the 2011 Teachers of the Year by the Tustin Unified School District.

The announcement was made Thursday, March 10 at the teachers’ schools. Superintendent Richard Bray, Board President Lynn Davis, Board Vice President Jonathan Abelove, Tustin Public Schools Foundation President Debbie Ewing and District Office administrators joined the “surprise” visits.

All three teachers will represent the District in the 2011-12 Orange County Teachers of the Year program.

The Orange County Department of Education will interview selected candidates and announce winners in May. The county finalists will then go on to the California Teachers of the Year program.

Tustin Unified’s annual awards program recognizes outstanding teachers who have displayed extraordinary teaching, creativity and excellence at their school and community.

Additionally, Tina was named Elementary School Teacher of the Year, Jaclyn was selected as Middle School Teacher of the Year and Monique was chosen as High School Teacher of the Year.

The three winners and all the District’s nominees (a total of 28 teachers) will be honored at the 17th annual Teachers of the Year Dinner at 5 p.m. on Friday, May 6 at the Irvine Marriott Hotel. The event is co-sponsored by the Tustin Public Schools Foundation and Tustin Unified School District.

Congratulations to Tina, Jaclyn, Monique and each School Site Teacher of the Year. Keep up the great work for Tustin Unified students and schools!
