Local Executives and Leaders Participate
in Annual "Principal for a Day"

Local business executives and community leaders will serve as “Principals for a Day” in schools throughout the Tustin Unified School District on Friday, March 11. The District is participating in the 22nd annual Principal for a Day program, sponsored by the California Educational Partnership Consortium.

The event, part of Educational Partnership Week, is a hands-on opportunity for Orange County business and community leaders to learn about the issues, challenges and accomplishments in public education as they take on the role of school administrators.

Each participant will share the role of school principal and perform various daily duties, such as visiting classrooms, meeting with students and teachers, attending staff meetings, reviewing budgets and participating in other activities.

The 2011 “Principals for a Day” include Oscar Villegas, stylist from Nova Vita Salon and Spa, at Arroyo Elementary School; Dana Stark, owner of Go Bananaz, at Barbara Benson Elementary School; Jeff Fischbeck, Co-founder and Vice President of Tresor Properties, at Benjamin Beswick Elementary School; Tustin police officer Bob Patterson at Helen Estock and Guin Foss elementary schools; Susan Bordeaux, certified financial planner for Morgan Stanley-Smith Barney, at Heideman Elementary School; Gary Karamardian, owner of Zov’s Restaurant, at Hicks Canyon Elementary School; Ted Mitchell, President and CEO of New Schools Venture Fund, at Ladera and Marjorie Veeh elementary schools; Dr. Mike Barker, Director of Secondary Education for TUSD, at C.C. Lambert Elementary School; Tustin Police Chief Scott Jordan at Loma Vista Elementary School; Irvine City Council Member Jeff Lalloway at Myford Elementary School; Robert DeWid, Tustin area director for Del Taco, at W.R.
