TUSD Eliminates Bus Routes Due to Budget Crisis

Due to the state budget crisis, the Tustin Unified School District has reduced its home-to-school transportation program for the 2010-11 school year.

The TUSD Board of Education voted to eliminate a majority of the bus routes throughout the District. Approximately 9 routes remain, including two to Estock Elementary School, one to Guin Foss Elementary School, five to Lambert Elementary School and one to Loma Vista Elementary School.

There are no proposed changes for Special Education transportation.

TUSD extended its intradistrict (students who reside within the District) open enrollment period to allow students the option to transfer to a school closer to home (based on space availability). The open enrollment period ended May 13 and parents were notified by May 29 whether the transfer request had been approved.

TUSD Elimina Rutas de Ómnibus debido a la Crisis Presupuestal

Debido a la crisis del presupuesto estatal, el Distrito Escolar Unificado de Tustin ha reducido su programa de transporte “casa-escuela” por el año escolar 2010-11.

Aproximadamente 9 rutas se mantendrán, incluyendo dos a la Escuela Primaria Estock, una a la Escuela Primaria Guin Foss, cinco a la Escuela Primaria Lambert y una a la Escuela Primaria Loma Vista.

No hay cambios propuestos para el transporte de los estudiantes de Educación Especial.

El TUSD extendió el periodo de inscripción para permitir a los estudiantes la opción de transferencia dentro del Distrito (estudiantes que viven dentro del Distrito) a una escuela más cerca de su casa (si existía disponibilidad de espacio). El periodo de inscripción finalizo el 13 de Mayo y los padres fueron notificados por escrito, para el 29 de Mayo, si su pedido de transferencia fue aprobado.
