TUSD Offers Kindergarten Readiness Program Through grants from the Children and Families Commission of Orange County and California Department of Education, the Tustin Unified School District is offering a free, half-day Kindergarten Readiness Program for four-year-old children living within the school attendance areas of Beswick, Estock, Heideman, Lambert, Thorman and Veeh elementary schools. The program is in its eighth year and serves over 280 students. Children who will be four years old on or before Dec. 2 of this year and live within the District’s designated school boundaries may be eligible to attend the program. In order for a child to attend preschool, families must qualify based on family size and income. The TUSD Kindergarten Readiness programs are located at Beswick, Estock, Heideman, Lambert, Thorman and Veeh schools. Sessions are held from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. and 12:15 to 3:15 p.m. The goal of the program is to prepare children for kindergarten by meeting their cognitive, language, social-emotional, physical and creative needs. The curriculum is based on the California Department of Education’s Pre-Kindergarten Learning and Development Guidelines. Enrollment packets are available at the Kindergarten Readiness office on the Utt campus, 13601 Browning Ave. Office hours are 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays (closed 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.). The preschool sessions will begin Monday, August 30 and continue through June 16. For more information, call (714) 730-7592. |
