TUSD Elementary Schools Conduct Early Registration Tustin Unified School District elementary schools (except Tustin Memorial Academy) will conduct early registration, beginning Wednesday, March 3, for new students, kindergarten through fifth-grade, who plan to attend classes in the 2010-11 school year. Tustin Memorial will hold its registration on a lottery basis on Monday, March 15. Registration at the schools will run weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Schools will ask for proof of residence, which must be provided in three forms: rental contract, lease agreement, escrow paper or grant deed; gas or electric bill; and photo ID of parent or guardian. Children who will be five years old on or before Dec. 2 of this year (2010) are eligible to enter kindergarten for the upcoming school year. Parents registering their children need to provide proof of their child’s birthdate and health immunization records. According to state law, the following immunizations are required for all new students: polio, diphtheria/tetanus/pertussis (DPT), measles/mumps/rubella (MMR), hepatitis B series and varicella (chicken pox). Kindergarten students and students new to the country may register, but cannot attend class unless immunizations are current. First-grade students and students new to the country must also have a tuberculosis (TB) skin test.
