Welcome back TMA Stars! I am Mrs. Carreras, your principal, and I am very excited to have our students and families back on campus this year. The last 18 months have challenged us all in ways we never imagined. Our staff, students, and families have shown exceptional resilience, and yet we know there will be continued needs moving forward. It is comforting to know that TUSD is committed to supporting us all during this transition. 

You will see some new faces around campus this year. In the spring, Mrs. Butler moved into the role of Intervention Lead Teacher, and Mrs. Price transitioned into the role of our MTSS (Multi-Tiered Systems of Support) Teacher. These ladies will work closely with teachers to design and implement interventions to ensure all of our scholars have the timely academic and social-emotional support they need.  Mrs. Bruley and Miss Jarvis will be joining the TMA Team this year teaching our 4/5 combo and 4th grade respectively. Mrs. Bruley comes to us from Sycamore Magnet Academy and Miss Jarvis completed her student teaching with us last Fall. Mrs. Fairbanks will be returning as our P.E. teacher, and we will also be welcoming a new librarian and an additional counselor to TMA this year.

In 2019-20, TUSD adopted TWIG science as our new science curriculum. Unfortunately, the pandemic delayed our implementation until this school year. Our professional learning and implementation will be led by our own science guru, Mrs. Barrone. We know that science is engaging and exciting for our scholars and we look forward to learning and exploring together with TWIG.
