California Scholarship Federation - General Information

California Scholarship Federation (CSF) is a student-run academic club whose motto is “scholarship for service.” Membership is based on scholarship and students that qualify will have the opportunity to participate in a club-organized community service project.

Membership is not automatic. Students must apply each semester, based on grades from the previous semester. Freshmen are eligible to apply in the second semester and are considered associate members until the second semester of the sophomore year. Transfer students must provide a transcript. They may also transfer any prior semesters of membership from the previous school with proper verification.

The Foothill CSF Chapter holds a membership drive in the fall coinciding with Club Rush and in the spring at the end of January. The application and service project options are made available the week prior. It is the student’s responsibility to pick up these documents, fill out the application, and choose a service project. The application is not online. Other than one service project, this is the only club responsibility that we ask the students to carry out showing their commitment and allowing for personal contact with each member. Students will then have one week to return them to the CSF Committee Members during the indicated membership drive period. Per CSF state bylaws, late applications cannot be accepted for any reason. It is very important not to wait until the last day. Specific dates and times for obtaining and turning in applications will be advertised in the daily bulletin, announcements, FTV, the PTO Newsletter and posters and flyers around campus each semester.

Sealbearer (Life Member) recognition at graduation is based upon membership from the second semester of sophomore year through the last semester of the senior year. To qualify for Sealbearer recognition a student must have a minimum of four semesters of membership, with at least one semester being in the senior year. Those students who achieve Sealbearer status will have a notation on the transcript, and will be recognized at Senior Awards night and Graduation.
