Hillview High School opened in 1975.   Prior to temporarily moving to Heritage School in 2011-12, the school was located on 10.2 acres across the street from Foothill High School.

Hillview is a continuation high school offering an alternate program for students in grades 9-12 who are behind in credits. The student population is between the ages of 15 and 18 years.

Formerly Los Cerritos School (1967), it was renamed in 1975 for its location.
