1.  GATE Program

The District program for Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) has several strands. They include GATE classes and cluster grouping in the elementary schools and honors classes in the secondary schools. The program varies by school and level. The program serves students with exceptional intellectual and academic abilities. School and individual plans are developed annually to meet program objectives and specific needs.   For more information, call District GATE Coordinator, Sharon Maeda, at (714) 730-7301, ext. 387, or click on her name to contact her by email.

Please note:  As of Fall-2010, private test results will no longer be accepted for the GATE screening process in the Tustin Unified School District.

GATE REGISTRATION
  GATE Testing Registration Forms ~ Available October 10-21, 2011
Deadline to turn in Registration Forms ~ October 21, 2011
GATE TESTING DATES
  In-District Kindergarten, 1st grade, and *private school students: Saturday, November 5, 2011, from 8 to 10 a.m. or 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Tustin Memorial Academy, 12712 Browning Ave.
  In-District Grades 2-8: November 1-10, 2011 at their school sites.

GATE IDENTIFICATION RESULTS ~ Letters will be sent by mail:
     Elementary School ~ Mid-March 2012
     Middle School ~ Beginning of April 2012

*Students attending private schools must pick up their form at the District Office.  Students are eligible to test only if they reside within the TUSD school boundaries.  Please bring proof of residency and identification when requesting the registration form.

9.  Enrollment Information for Tustin Memorial Academy

Tustin Memorial Academy is the Tustin Unified School District's K-5 magnet school open to all elementary students.  The school offers two separate education programs -- a fundamental education program for grades K-5 and a full-time Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) program for grades 1-5.
