The
Coordinating Council holds an annual Special Recognition Awards Ceremony
in the spring. Awards are given to various members of the community,
including parents, classroom volunteers, teachers and staff, for their extra
efforts and contributions at TUSD schools.
In addition,
parent leaders participate in the Tustin Unified School District's Parent
Leadership Program. The parent-to-parent program provides leadership
training for parents in order to increase their effectiveness as leaders and
contribute to the success of their schools.
The workshops
are usually conducted twice a year (fall and spring) by parent leaders. The
training includes such topics as leading group meetings, improving
communication and involvement, guiding decision making, and managing
conflict.
Workshop
participants are comprised of PTA/PTO presidents, committee chairs, School
Site Council chairs, and other school representatives. They also receive a
comprehensive training manual.
