Our mission is "Creating a positive learning environment with high expectations for all". We are very proud of our instructional programs, our safe, positive school environment, and the excellent progress demonstrated by our Ladera students. Go Leopards!

2016 California Gold Ribbon School

The Gold Ribbon Awards recognize California schools that have made gains in implementing the academic content and performance standards adopted by the State Board of Education. These include the California Standards for English Language Arts and Mathematics, California English Language Development Standards, and Next Generation Science Standards. 
2014 California Distinguished School
The California Distinguished Schools Program honors California's most exemplary and inspiring public schools. Schools selected for the Distinguished School Award demonstrate significant gains in narrowing the achievement gap. Approximately five percent of California schools are awarded this honor each year following a rigorous selection process.  
2013 Honor Roll School
Ladera Elementary has been selected as a 2013 Honor Roll school by the California Business for Education Excellence (CBEE) Foundation. Ladera has been recognized for demonstrating consistent high student academic achievement. The Honor Roll schools are consistently raising student achievement and have made significant progress toward closing the achievement gap among all students. They are recognized not only for their accomplishments, but so that other schools can learn and replicate the best practices of Honor Roll schools.

Ladera Spring Fundraiser "Masquerade Ball"
Next Saturday, April 1st  for Ladera PTO's Annual Spring Fundraiser at the Tustin Ranch Golf Club. This year's Masquerade Ball will include both a silent and live auction, dinner, dancing and casino tables. Click HERE to view the invitation.

CDC Childcare at Ladera's Spring Fundraiser
Would you like to attend the Spring Fundraiser? Would your kids love a night filled with food, movies and friends? 
When:    Saturday, April 1st, from 6:00pm-11:00pm
Where:   Ladera CDC (located inside Ladera's Kindergarten
             playground area)
Cost:      $25 for the first child and $10 for each add'l child

All Children are Invited! They will enjoy a pizza dinner followed by crafts, movies, games and fun! Advanced reservations are required by Monday, March 27th.  Please call 714-505-8098 or stop by Ladera CDC in person.  Children must be toilet-trained to attend.

After school classes will be held next week during Conference Week from 1:45-2:45pm. 
Canned Food Drive Starting Next Weekcanned food
Student Council will be sponsoring a canned food drive from March 27th - April 5th. Please check your Friday folder for suggested items to bring in. Please do not send any glass containers to school - they are not accepted and will be sent home. Thank you in advance for your kindness!

Cool 2B Kind Week
From April 3rd-7th, students can participate in Cool 2B Kind activities* all week! Our week will be GoNoodle themed- Use your noodle and be kind to others!

Moosetube Monday: Moosetube songs take place at camp, so wear your favorite camping clothes to school, including hats and hiking boots!

Totally Tunesday: Koo Koo Kanga Roo and Blazer Fresh are 2 fun groups that teach us through song! So come to school dressed like someone from either group! (KKR wear black shirts, pants, and baseball caps; BF wear ties, blazers, sweatpants, and sneakers.) Have fun and be creative!

Wacky Wednesday: You know the drill!

Emoji Thursday: Come to school wearing your favorite emoji that you think represents kindness! We will also be having an Awesome Sauce Dance Party on the blacktop during lunchtime today!
Champtastic Friday: Show your love for your favorite champ by wearing a shirt that is the same color as them! Please remember that we have P.E. on this day and need to be wearing comfortable and appropriate clothing and shoes.

The yearbook committee is looking for student artwork to help add style and creativity to our 2016/2017 yearbook. All Ladera students are eligible and prizes will be awarded to every participant. All artwork must be turned in by April 3rd. For contest guidelines, please click HERE
The yearbook committee is offering "Heart Ads", a fun and heart-felt way to feature a photo of your child, along with a personal message from friends or family. All photos and messages must be submitted online by April 19th. Click HERE for ad options and instructions. All proceeds from the message ads will go to the Ladera PTO.
Angels Family Night - Save the Date!

                  complimentary Tailgating with pizza/hot dogs

Immediately following the game: Big Bang Fireworks and/or a Family Movie. More details to follow as the event nears. Tickets will be available for purchase in early April and will be sold on a first come, first served basis.
Ladera Welcomes Fancy Nancy Illustrator Robin Preiss Glasser
On Wednesday, April 26th, Robin Preiss Glasser, the #1 New York Times bestselling illustrator of the Fancy Nancy series, will be presenting to the school in a STEAM assembly. The 8th and final installment of the Fancy Nancy chapter book series: Nancy Clancy and the Late-Breaking News! was recently released and we will be offering autographed books for this special event. To pre-order your autographed book(s), please turn in an order form to your teacher by Tuesday, April 4th. Click HERE to view the order form. 
Tustin Schools Open a Week Earlier Next Yr.
calendarSchool will begin earlier next year for all TK-12 Tustin Unified students. The first day of school next fall will be Tuesday, August 22, 2017, and the last day of instruction will be June 7, 2018. Parents will need to adjust vacation times and plan calendars to ensure students are ready for school mid-August. Click HERE to read the full news article.
